Golden Dawn will distribute food to the poor and help businessmen "choked" by the Italian tax man, party secretary Alessandro Gardossi said, predicting "civil war" in Italy soon because of the economic crisis. Gardossi said Golden Dawn was aiming to persuade undecided voters, who he claimed made up half of the electorate.
The far-rightists would also "reach out" to anti-establishment ex-comedian Beppe Grillo, whose Five Star Movement is slipping in the polls but still second behind the centre-left Democratic Party. "We already have an office in Turin and we will shortly open others all over Italy," Gardossi said. "Mussolini's social policies are a reference for us, but not all the rest".
