while marching to celebrate a court order banning a march by neo-Nazis on September 1, 2012 in Dortmund, Germany. The neo-Nazi march would have coincided with Anti-War Day and has been an annual occurence in Dortmund, though for the first time Germany's Federal Constitutional Court (Bundesverfassungsgericht) upheld a lower court ban to stop the neo-Nazis from marching.
Crititical in the decision was a ban only weeks before on three neo-Nazi organizations active in the region and police raids that netted weapons, computers and propaganda materials. Dortmund has been plagued by a virulent neo-Nazi problem in recent years, though a strong engagement by citizins groups, churches, city administration, local police and regional law enforcement have finally led to a decisive move against the neo-Nazis.
