Belgium in formal Holocaust apology

Belgian Prime Minister Elio Di Rupo has extended formal apologies to his country’s Jews for Belgian collaboration with the Nazi Holocaust.
He was speaking in Mechelen Sunday at events marking 70 years since the Nazis rounded up members of the Jewish communities of Antwerp and Brussels. Deplorably, both municipal governments willingly helped the Nazis deport Belgian and fugitive East European Jews to extermination camps.
Army barracks near Mechelen were used as a staging post on the way to Auschwitz.
