Nowhere is this more clearly apparent than in austerity-racked Greece with the rise of the fascist Golden Dawn and a sharp shift to the right by the governing coalition.

Golden Dawn: propaganda of hatred for the new generations

No doubt that Golden Dawn knows very well what it is doing: winning youngsters’ souls will make it take root in Greek society. After all, Golden Dawn’s had already published its intentions in 2008 though its Youth Front, “Antepithesi” (Counterattack). Since then it has been calling for a “struggle” in schools, gyms and all gathering places of children and youngsters.
Some years later, after it entered parliament, Golden Dawn’s promise – or rather its threat – came true. Not only did it manage to infiltrate schools, it also opened a “catechism school” for children aged 6 to 10.

New Democracy top official accused of backing junta

Hot Doc monthly magazine, run by Costas Vaxevanis, the journalist who revealed the names of the 2,062 Greeks with US$1.95 billion in secret Swiss bank accounts that haven’t been checked for possible tax evasion for nearly three years, has published charges that Ilias Philippakopoulos, chief of staff to the conservative New Democracy party’s Secretary-General, was a sympathiser of the brutal military dictatorship that ruled Greece from 1967-74.
By virtue of his position, Philippakopoulos is a high-ranking official in Prime Minister Antonis Samaras’s government. Samaras had no immediate comment on the article. The junta is idolised by the neo-Nazi Golden Dawn party, which has 18 seats in the Greek Parliament and has an anti-immigrant stance, which New Democracy has adopted as well.
