Clive Jefferson, the British National Party treasurer, sent out yet another fundraising email today. Nothing new there, not even the heading “The BNP is for life not just for Christmas”, a theme cadged from animal charities and used by the BNP last year, if not before.
More briefly than usual, Jefferson calls on supporters to help the BNP “put Britain right” (fat chance), adding that the party had “revolutionised” its membership payment scheme by using direct debits to spread the cost and “stabilise” the party’s income, presumably by relying on lazy members not bothering to cancel the arrangement.
Direct debit has existed for years, but Jefferson seems only recently to have discovered it, writing: “Now we are using this exciting new technology in our fundraising too”.
Give the man a Furby someone.
